"And while the label might be more contemporary, the old-school charm is just as prevalent at cult New York tailor 18th Amendment (eighteenthamendment.com), founded by designer Angel Ramos. This is suiting that steers away from corporateconnotations; Ramos is a master colorist, with biscuit, ivory and tobacco-shaded jackets instead of standard blacks and navy, as well as a handsome line-up of loafers, a more casual take on smart footwear in sunnier months."
Angel Ramos, cofounder and Chief Creative Officer of the West Village menswear shop 18th Amendment, has been offering online fitting for the past three years. His method is straightforward, clients are sent jacket prototypes so Ramos can get a sense of the fit and drape, then the actual garment is shipped to the customer for approval. In the end, "the final product is as good as it'd be if the process was done in person." he says. And besides, he adds, it can be fun. "The idea is, even though this is a video call, let's have a good time."
